Professor. Nikolay Ivanovitch Alexeevsky, Council member of waser, outstanding researcher on eroision and sedimentation, head of Hydrology Department, University of Mosscow, passed away on 14 May 2015 at the age of 65.
Prof. Nikolay is professor of the Land Hydrology Department of Moscow State University, member of the Russian committee on International Hydrological Programs of UNESCO.
Prof. Alexeevsky received his Ph. D. degree in December 1981 and worked atMoscowStateUniversityas a M. V. Lomonosov since 1981 until present time. His research interests include sediment transportation, fluvial processes, stream ecology, dangerous hydrological phenomena’s, integrated river management. He has published 26 papers in international journals and conference proceedings and 223 papers in Russian journals. He has published and edited 16 monographs.
His international experience includes organization of 10th International Symposium on River Sedimentation (ISRS), which was held inRussia(Moscow, 2007). He attended with oral presentations few international conferences: the 9th (2004) and 11th (2010) international symposiums on River Sedimentation, XVIIth Conference of the Danube Countries on Hydrological Forecasting and Hydrological Bases of Water Management (Budapest, Romania, 1994), International Symposium on Environmental and Socioeconomic Consequences of Water Resources Development and Management (Mosсow, Russia, 1995), scientific workshops and congresses of IAHS (2004, 2010), 3rd Symposium «Quality and management of water resources» (Saint Petersburg, Russia, 2005), International Conference on Hydrology and Climate Change in Mountainous Areas (Kathmandu, Nepal, 2008), International Conference on the Status and Future of the World’s Large (Vienna, Austria, 2011).
